Q: Chevrolet Silverado vs. Ford F-150?
I’m shopping for my first car/truck and I’m torn between the Silverado and F-150 (high 90’s-low 00’s; up to $8000). I want a truck that gets decent mpg (low 20’s-ish), is good to take to the sand dunes or go mudding, and practical for a high school student. Which way should I go?
A: Well, if you are talking about mudding, you are going to wanna go 4×4. You can do it in 2wd, but it won’t be as effective or fun for that matter. So your not really gonna get 20ish mpg. I have a 2000 Silverado 4×4 and I get 15mpg. Now, here is the thing. Compare the safety ratings between Ford and Chevy. The Ford got poor ratings between 97 and 03. The cab completely crushes in. So you would want to go before 97 or after 03 for Ford. As for safety, go to www.autos.msn.com and click on the used car tab towards the top. You can see reliability ratings as well as watch the crash test videos of both. For gas mileage, go to www.fueleconomy.gov. So, in my honest opinion, I would go with Chevy. A: This more than anything would have a lot to do with the driver.The 2005 silverado with the 4.3 liter V6 puts out 195 HP.The 2005 F-150 with the 4.2 V6 liter V6 puts out 202 HP.I myelf would think the touque of the 4.3 chevy would out run the F-150.Best of luck.

Alright, here’s what’s up.
My friend has a 1990 Ford F-150 and I have a 1975 Chevy Silverado.
He wants to race me at the motorplex when it opens up. He says he can beat me, I say I can beat him ( Which I’m sure i can). His truck has a V6 with no upgrades as far as i know. My truck has a 454 big block chevy engine. Now i don’t have much but i just recently rebuilt the Carburetor and have had the exhaust work done on it.
I know everybodys opinion will be different because some people favor chevy than ford and vis versa but i want the truck.
Who do you think will win.
Also, what are some good performance parts to on my truck for the future.
I don’t make much money but i can save for some parts.

Q: F-150 vs Silverado vs Ram?
I have heard many discussions about these trucks and the big motors, but I believe many like me are a little cash strapped right now. I want to know how each of these trucks small V-8’s stack up against each other. I know the numbers, but I want everyone’s opinion. Which small V-8 would you choose as superior and why??? The 4.6 Triton, the 4.8 Vortec, or the 4.7 Magnum. I have my own personal choice, but I would like to know what everyone else thinks.
A: Definatly the Ford. Ford makes the best trucks. Period. There is a reason that the ford f-150 is the best selling automobile in the world (even including cars). I’ve owned a few ford trucks and never had any problems with them. I bought a ram once and got rid of that POS as fast as I could. My friend’s father has a silverado and is always complaining about it.

I’m 15 and I’m looking into buying a F-150 or Silverado.
My price range is about $10k so I’ve been looking for an 03 or newer. My parents are Ford, but the more research I do, I like the Silverado more.

A: Silverado. Newer, more aerodynamic, more powerful since it is newer.

That Car Looks Kinda Low, At Least At The Pictures I Look At, Wouldn’t It Get Stuck Going Under Some Shallow Water Or Rocks?
A: I think it comes down to how long do you plan to keep the car/truck you are about to purchase?
Depending on how long you plan to keep it, you need to look at it this way too, ‘Foreign’ vs ‘Domestic’. Foreign cars, even if produced in the USA, get better resale value than others.
If you can see yourself driving a truck for the next 2-6+ years, then by all means get a truck. However, if you think you will get tired of a truck and may need more passenger room later down the road … the possibilities are almost endless.
If I had to choose a truck, it would be the Toyota Tacoma or the Ford F-150. My boyfriend has a 94 4X4 ‘before’ they became the ‘Tacoma’ and it hasn’t given him a days trouble. My father had an F-150 and I loved driving it.
If I had to choose a car, the Honda Civic does not belong in the group with the others. Sorry, but it doesn’t. I would choose the Charger or the Eclipse.

Q: Luxury, vs. Muscle vs. Lifted truck?
I am planning on purchasing a vehicle soon. I am planning on buying used, and under 30,000. I am planning on either a lifted 2500 Ram, Silverado or F-150, a BMW 5 or 7 series, or a muscle car such as an srt-8 charger or 300c or more likely a Jeep Grand Cherokee srt-8. Out of all of these the SRT-8 Cherokee has the best speed times, but what type of recomendations can you give me for a car?

Alright im a die hard Ford Fan I personally believe that Ford makes the best trucks around but I’ll be as non biased as possible here.

I don’t think Toyota or Nissan for that matter makes trucks quite as good as some people tend to think. This video (If you care to watch it) Shows the frame rigidity of a Ford F-150 Chevrolet Silverado and a Toyota Tundra. The Tundra failed this test miserably. Ford did best with Chevrolet close second.
Now Toyota does have some good quality’s to its truck. Powerful 5.7L V8 puts out more power than Fords current 5.4L or Chevy’s 5.3L. But in contrast Chevy now has a 6.2L V8 that comes’s in all silverado forms not just Denali anymore. That puts out over 400hp. And Ford themselves is going to be realizing a 6.2L and 5.0L V8 in the next year or two as replacements for their 4.6L and 5.4L V8’s Both of Fords new V8’s are said to have over 400hp.
My logic as to why Ford currently builds the best full size truck is this….Even though its Horsepower and Torq numbers fall short of the Toyota Tundra’s. It is still rated to pull a heavier load. And to me that say’s alot about the quality of the suspension and frame the over chassis of the truck.
As I see it right now the Tundra’s not much more than a red light racer. The Ford F-150 is a true work truck and I will even go as far as to say Chevy and Dodge are better pickups than the Tundra or Titan.
I dont expect everyone to agree with me. Im not trying to start a fight or anything so lets try and keep are anwsers civil. I am intrested in hearing all reasonable oppoions if you have one.

Q: Ford Trucks vs. Chevy Trucks – Opinions?
I have recently test drove the Ford F-150 and the Chevrolet Silverado. The Ford beats the Silverado in these aspects:
- More heavy duty and stout
- Better and more spacious back seats in crew cab
- Better ride
- Better layout of interior
- Better looking exterior
The F-150 is superior to the Silverado in almost every way possible. No wonder the F-150 is the best selling pickup truck in America.
Opinions?
A: the reason why ford has such a superior truck to chevy is the fact they have most of their designers work on their trucks and make every possible flaw a success.
Ford also can make a 7.3 liter push out more power then a chevy 8.1 liter ford doesnt make that big of a motor because they dont need to.
Q: Ford vs. Chevrolet – Opinions?
I recently test drove a Ford Expedition and a Chevrolet Tahoe. It was obvious that the Ford was much better built and much more stout and sturdy. I also noticed the same difference when I recently test drove a Ford F-150 and a Chevrolet Silverado, again the Ford was much better built and much more stout and sturdy.
Also if you look at auto reviews, Ford generally has better reliability than Chevrolet.
I am guessing this is one of the main reasons why Ford is doing so well while Chevrolet (General Motors) almost went out of business.
So why is it that some people still try to say that Chevrolet is better than Ford when Ford obviously makes much better built vehicles?

A: Get a ford. Ford is by far the better of the two. People say Chevy is better because of personal bias not looking at the facts. Ford is better built and doesnt cut corners. Look at the differences in the frames of the two trucks to get an idea
