Q: 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 vs 2006 Chevy Silverado ext. cab 4 wd?
i am looking to get a 4 wheel drive truck-i was wondering what would be better off in the long run, the chevy or the toyota-both trucks can handle the amount i’m going to tow and all the stuff like that-i was more concerned with dependability and reliability-i already know that i am comparing a 6 cycl. truck with an 8 cycl. truck, and i already know that the Tacoma that i’m referring to has 4 doors where as the chevy doesn’t have 4 full doors-i’m not concerned with that though
A: today’s toyota trucks are made right here in america they are made at 2 plants , one in california and the other is in Ky by not buying one of the toyotas you are depriving the americans who works at those plants that makes toyota trucks

my friend thinks his tacoma is faster. i say no way v8 vs v6 ha!….what do you think?

A: Your friends Toyota has a 4.0 V6, there is not 4.3. That said, you have a lot more HP and torque, but you also have a bigger and heavier truck.
Are these trucks 2wd, 4wd? Silverado’s have multiple sizes too (weight matters). The RWD trucks will be quicker than the 4WD ones, the 4WD will get off the line better, but after that the lighter weight and lower drivetrain losses will favor the RWD truck.
If he has the lightest version, 2wd Tacoma with the six speed stick, he might give you a run for your money, but most likely your truck will be quicker. It would be easier to be sure if we knew more about the trucks.

im gonna buy a car soon and ive decided im going to ether get a truck (silverado,tacoma,ram,) or a 90s camaro. i want the speed of the z28 but i ride dirt bikes and dont wanna get a trailer. what are your thoughts? has to be under 6,000

A: if you want a truck that you can hall your bikes around in and go just about anywhere with get the Tacoma and if you want somethin thats a little cheaper i’d try the Chevy or a dodge Dakota but make sure its 4 wheel drive so you can take it off road and not have to worry about getting stuck

That Car Looks Kinda Low, At Least At The Pictures I Look At, Wouldn’t It Get Stuck Going Under Some Shallow Water Or Rocks?
A: I think it comes down to how long do you plan to keep the car/truck you are about to purchase?
Depending on how long you plan to keep it, you need to look at it this way too, ‘Foreign’ vs ‘Domestic’. Foreign cars, even if produced in the USA, get better resale value than others.
If you can see yourself driving a truck for the next 2-6+ years, then by all means get a truck. However, if you think you will get tired of a truck and may need more passenger room later down the road … the possibilities are almost endless.
If I had to choose a truck, it would be the Toyota Tacoma or the Ford F-150. My boyfriend has a 94 4X4 ‘before’ they became the ‘Tacoma’ and it hasn’t given him a days trouble. My father had an F-150 and I loved driving it.
If I had to choose a car, the Honda Civic does not belong in the group with the others. Sorry, but it doesn’t. I would choose the Charger or the Eclipse.
