2006 honda civic si vs 2003 Ford Mustang gt. Both cars have manual transmissions. Which car is faster in 0-60??

A: First off, never look at a cars 0-60 times. Anyone with any racing experiance will never ask, care, or look at these times. They can be very misleading for a number of different reasons. I dont want to take up a page explaining it here, but if you have a buddy that races ask him about it or send me an email and I will respond. The only time you should look at for this kind of comparrison is 1/4 mile times. Just to answer your question though, please do not believe for a second that there is only a small difference between the civic and the mustang when it comes to 0-60, theres not. The mustang is much faster. I will paste a great site below that has all the times for most of the cars made. It did not have a listing for the 03 gt mustang but it did have one for the 99 gt mustang which would be a few tenths slower if anything but almost the same. The mustang gt does 0-60 in 5.5 and does the 1/4 mile in 14.1. The 2006 Honda Civic Si does 0-60 in 7.2 and does the 1/4 mile in 15.1. Its not even close, a full second in the 1/4 mile at the trap speeds these cars are traveling would equal like 12 car lengths. The mustang gt blows the civic out of the water, no contest. Even if you want to look at 0-60, the mustang is faster to 60mph by 1.7 seconds. Thats almost 2 full seconds, so thats no contest either.

Q: 2000 Ford Mustang Vs 2003 Honda Civic?
I found two cars that im interested in. Both are around $10,000

2003 HONDA CIVIC 2 DOOR LX – 85,310 km – $9,999.00 – 1.7L, 4 cyl

2000 FORD MUSTANG GT SPECIAL – 97,345 km -$10,550.00
4.6L, 8 cyl.

Im in limbo about these two cars. The Mustang says “BALLS”, while The Civic says “i’ll probably last longer”.

3 times a week, i’ll probably be traveling 20 miles to work in the morning and back again. So about 40 miles a day.

I love cars that just say “Balls”, and Civics say “Their Trying To Drop”. I love the mustang for its power and its sexy look. I like the Civic because it will probably be cheaper on gas, doesnt look so bad.I can’t say any more, One of these cars will have to last me about 1 1/2-2 years… forgot to mention i will probably drive the **** out of both of these cars.
I Need more reasons and opinions about these Cars. If you had to choose between these two which ones would you go for?
And both of them are under warrenty

A: the mustang weights in around 3100 where as the civic hatchbacks of that year come in around 2600, so you have a slight weight advantage, but it also should have somewhere around 260 hp, where as the civic should have roughly 165ish maybe 170 at the crank so maybe 120ish to the wheels the gt will more than likely win.

A: Mustang. Even though power is roughly the same, the V6 produces 220 ft lbs of torque at 2750 RPM and the Si only has 139 ft lbs of torque at a sky-high 6100RPM. The Mustang only weighs a couple hundred more pounds and combined with the torque and RWD will get a better launch than the Civic.

So unless you seriously smoked the clutch on the Civic, I would think the Civic be behind pretty much from the start and would be chasing it by a car length or two, keeping up or advancing only slightly.

A: The Mustang will smoke the Civic stock for stock. The Mustang GT will beat the civic to 60 MPH by about a second, and beat it in the 1/4 mile by about a second as well. The Civic will likely be more reliable and will get significantly better fuel mileage.

Q: 1999 Honda civic Ex vs 2004 Ford mustang?
Hi i was wondering what type of mods i would need to beat a 2004 Ford mustang thats automatic if i drove a 99 Honda civic EX 2dr. the only mods i have on atm are better spark plugs and a AEM Short ram intake. the Mustang is a V-6 and is all stock. I pretty much have probrably 130HP right now on the Civic ex. Any advice would be appreciated!

A: Get a motor swap. Do not waste any more of your money on a d16y8. The motor will not make power N/A.
Get a B18C5 or C1 swap it in and the next day you will be walking that v6 mustang. The sway should run you anywhere from 2000 to 3500. Depends on the condidtion and if you install it correctly.

A: Mustang 4.0L V-6 has 300-bhp, Civic Si 2.0L I-4 has 197-bhp. Mustang curb weight is 3400-lbs, Civic Si is 2800-lbs. Power-to-weight ratio for Mustang is 11.3-lbs/bhp, for Si is 14.2-lbs/bhp. Braking from 60-0 mph in Mustang is 115-ft, in Si is N/A. Handling and suspension will be subjective, and while the Mustang leaves much to be desired against true sports cars, I’m sure the RWD platform will be much better over a Civic Si.

okay so i have a choise of choosing a car for my grad year to drive to school i have a 98 honda civic ex sitting outside that i will get for free because my mom will give me it and i can do some mods to it and make it look nice, or i can go buy myself a 88 5.0 mustang for about 3000$ and spend more money on doing mods to that i dont know what to get i really love mustangs but i dont got that much money to do mods to it what should i get the civic or the mustang

A: I would get the civic, here is why
1. You will get it for free
2. You will save on gas, that 5.0 will use up some gas trust me
3. JDM (Japanese Domestic market) cars such as your Civic there are way more fun to tune because you can do way more to them and for cheaper.
4. Civics are very dependable cars (i have owned the same car (98 civic ex) for two years now and haven’t had one problem out of it.
5. JDM cars are easier to work on your self because in most of them, like your civic, all of the stuff is right there.. no real work to remove anything or repair anything.
6. And this specific model of civic is Vtec which is always nice. But it may not be the best model of Vtec, the best you could have is Vtec-E (the faster version) and if thats what that car is then i would no doubt kill for that car.
7. This car may not be the sexiest car out there stock but it takes very little work to make it look great.

99 Honda Civic has cold air intake, cat-back exhaust
2003 Ford Mustang has catless H 2.5 inch H pipe, and cat-back exhaust, cold air intake, drag radials.

Would it be a close race? Who do you think would win?

A: If the only mods to the Civic are a cold air intake (which doesn’t help much and may even hurt performance) and a cat-back exhaust (which can hurt low rpm torque, which this engine already lacks) then the tiny 1.6l four doesn’t stand a chance against a 2003 Mustang GT. The GT has a 4.6l V-8 with no cat, exhaust and drag radials (good traction off the line).

These two cars aren’t even in the same category! If you modify the Civic, then it may put up a good race. You can actually get the Civic to beat the Mustang, but you’re gonna have to put $10K into engine mods.

Again, no contest on this one.
