Q: Mustang vs. corvette seem like fair fight.?
Why do people compare sportscar to muscle car. That’s like putting the gt against a camaro am I right. The gt would obviously win. So why do people put videos of sports car vs muscle. Everyone knows unless you really upgrade the muscle car it would win. So why do corvette vs muscle car. Because, muscle cars are for drag racing. So they weigh more then spots car corvette’s like 1000 pounds mustang is like 1 ton. About 2 times the weight of sports car so if it weighed the same as the a sports car the muscle car may win , and chances are better for it then. Also is the camaro still considered a muscle car. what do you think would win a race a mustang or corvette? Any modifications can ba done to either. I think that it is to close to tell I would think the Corvette but im a Mustang kind of guy and i’ve seen mustang with a lot more horse than Corvettes. If you think a corvette waht do you think you would have to do to the mustang in order for it to win?

A: I would bank on the Corvette. I have spent alot of time at a local 1/8th mile drag strip. I have seen modified Cobras have a hard time against Corvettes. I have also seen on bad supercharged Corvette at the drag strip that ran lower than 5 secs.

A: The Z06 Corvette can blow away the Mustang, and a race at a track would not even be close. The Corvette weighs about 700 pounds less, has superior suspension, brakes, motor, and tires.

A: You just gave us a good reason to pick your car as the winner. Now lets look at the hidden facts about that vette. Is it stock? what does he have hidden under his hood that you don’t know about? There are a lot of sleepers out there that will blow you away, so don’t let looks deceive you. My stock looking Z71 GMC truck looks stock, but if you looked under the hood you would have a second opinion. Amazing what a super charger and a bunch of bolt ons can do to a newer series engine. 470 HP is a nice improvement and you would never tell to look at it. Do a little research before you challenge him.

Because they are different types of cars mustang is muscle corvette is sports car. If you were to put the ford gt vs. the camaro it’s a sportscar vs. half muscle. Don’t you think they should put the ford gt vs. the corvette zr1. And the mustang vs. the camaro ,and if they put the best camaro vs a standard mustang don’t you think they should both be there best type.

A: The corvette can be considered a Sports car yes. But, it can also be considered a muscle car also. Todays corvette originated from a muscle car. Zr1 vs ford gt would be a good race even though i dont care much for fords. Camaro vs Mustang is a classic always will be. Camaro ss vs a base model v6 mustang? Not a fair comparison unless the mustang is twin turbo or hella supercharged. I used to own a 00 Grand am GT 3.4 v6 twin turbo ran 10.5-11.0 in the 1/4th. I think the video is still on youtube i could have got with that camaro!

To Dodge: Sorry to say but Motor Trend Magazine has recently done some “test driving” with the GT 500, Corvette and Dodge Viper (Sucks). The tests have concluded that not only did the GT 500 come out on top but was also awarded best handling and acceleration. Hope that clears things up for you

Carroll Shelby liked the name and asked if it was patented yet and it wasnt so Shelby immeaditly put a patent on it. rofl chevy is so stupid.

A: I love Mustangs! Corvettes are alright, but I only like ones from the 70’s to the 90’s. I would totally take a Shelby Cobra GT500 over a Corvette any day though. And as for Shelbys not beating Corvettes did anyone hear about the new Shelby Cobra GT500KR? It is going to come out in spring of 2008 and have 550 Horsepower!

Trying to get some evidence to my friend that Corvettes are in every way better than Mustangs.
If it has to be a specific model. Go for the top of the line of both of them.

A: It will be a matter of preference which is superior. In my humble opinion a Corvette wins in all categories. Mustang is a great car, no doubt, but not in the same class as a zr1. Difference in price should be a major clue.

A: I’m guessing that you’ll have more Stangs since you posted under the Ford side. For me its a matter of money, Given a set amount of money, the Mustang is just more car for the money. The Corvette is an amazing machine (especially the ZO6) but the two aren’t even close in terms of pricing. For the price of a new Mustang your talking about a generation or two older vette with a good deal of miles on it. A vette is the only chebby that you would every see me consider buying, but the Stang has the same Americana that keeps buyers coming back.

Cliff notes: I’ll take the stang because it fits in my budget. Stock for Stock Vette owns Stang hands down.

well im not sure how high you can upgrade them. but if you modded these things up as high as they can go which one do you think would come up on top and why

A: The 2010 Lingenfelter is already a 200 mph plus car. The Mustang needs a LOT of work to get there, but also costs so much less, that you’ll have the money to do the upgrades. Anything can go fast, it all depends how much you want to do. Mugen took a Honda NSX and turned the engine so it could modify it more, many companies swap engine’s that don’t belong in the car originally, like Hennessey does by putting Corvette ZR1 engine and mods into a Camaro. Depends what you want to spend.

Would a 2008 Callaway corvette or the 2008 Shelby mustang win in a race? well I will help you out the callaway corvette will have a 650 horsepower engine, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, and a top speed of over 210 mph. 6.2 liter LS3 V8. The shelby mustang will have a 5.4 liter v8 producing 540 horsepower, with a top speed of 155 mph. Proving once again Chevy kills ford in the speed department, oh and the new camaro goes 180+ and thats not even the ss version either. Ford just cant beat chevy. New camaro and corvette, and all ford has is a crappy built mustang, the care has a 500 horse engine and aint even close to the speed of the Camaro’s 400 horse engine. SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK???

A: Corvette is on its own leage, you have to compare that one with the Viper and such. A Mustang is 2+2 sports car, more like the Camaro, Firebird and Challenger / Barracuda and the AMC AMX. Those are the class that you need to compare with. Right now the Mustang has not challengers and is alone on its own market right now.

When the new Challenger and Camaro comes out, now we are going to have a good comparison. And of course, we are going to have an occasional Ricer telling us that their car with a build in Nintendo out perfom these cars.

A: MotorTrend did a test of these 2 cars. The Vette barely edges out the Cobra, but it’s so close that it might as well be even.

“On paper, the Cobra’s supercharged 4.6-liter/390-horsepower/390-lb-ft DOHC V-8 looks to defeat the Vette’s normally aspirated 5.7-liter/350-horse/375-lb-ft OHV V-8. But, given the Fords’ 532-pound weight disadvantage and rear-wheel hop, the Corvette proves slightly quicker off the line. The Cobra lagged just 0.14 second to 60 mph and 0.10 second and 0.01 mph covering the quarter mile.”
