Q: Acura 4-cylinder TSX vs. Accord V6 EX-L?
Which do you think is a better idea between these two very similar cars (I realize the TSX is the Euro Accord chassis)?
The Accord has a better engine, but I think the TSX looks nicer inside and out. The price is very close between the two for the EX-L V6 Accord.
Is this mostly just a decision between the Acura brand name vs. a bigger engine, or are there other differences I’m not aware of?
A: Acura
It handles better, much more luxurious, slightly higher revving engine.
But both are great cars that last pretty much forever and both have best in class resale values.
Q: TSX vs 4dr Accord?
Looking at these 2. For the same price.
Acura TSX – auto with Nav
vs
Accord top of the line. AT and Nav.
For about 30,000.
Which should I choose?
it seems like you cannot find a used txs. a 1 or 2 year old used tsx is the same price as a brand new one
A: I would personally choose the Honda because it has more space but I love Acuras. Do you need the extra room or not is the question?
Q: TSX vs ACCORD?
I am trying to help my grandpa choose a car.
Which would you get?
acura tsx
or
honda accord EXL
A: The TSX is a Acura Civic – stick with the Accord especially with V6 Power.
Q: acura tsx 2009 vs honda accord v6 2008?
I love the styling of the acura but its the same price that the accord v6, could someone help me decide the between both. thanks
A: You have a tough choice on your hands. Some people say that buying new car is totally emotional. You won’t get satisfaction out of a car you aren’t passionate about. So, go with the TSX, you car of choice. Who cares about the extra horses? It’s about how the power is used, and the TSX is a tried-and-true formula that delivers plenty of giddy-up. Also, think about the upscale-ness of the Acura brand! It’s the perfect way to say that you have arrived. It is unique, fast, agile and sexy. I highly reccomend the TSX, if you have the money. Go for it!

Q: Honda civic/accord (2010) vs Acura tsx (2008)?
Cons/Pros
A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net
Q: Acura TSX vs TL vs Honda Accord?
Pros and cons of each.
2008 Accord?
And which you guys prefer?
A: Acura TSX- Light, Alot for the Money, Acura Cachet, Honda Reliability, doesn’t seem to surprise anymore, in diar need of redesign
Acura TL- Handsome looks, A big bundle for a small price, relatively fast, BMW 3-Series is more engaging
2008 Honda Accord- Handsome looks, great price, reliability, better value than Acura
Q: Do I buy a base Acura TSX or a Honda Accord V6 EX-L?
Though the Acura is $1,000 more MSRP I have both deals worked out to the same monthly payment. Only with the Accord I would get a check back for $600 more for my trade ($4000 vs $3400). The TSX is a nicely tuned off-the-line happy 4cyl, where the accord is v6 with more overall power and smoother overall ride. I’ve been going back and forth with both cars for a week now and can’t decide. I’m coming off a mazda 6 v6 if it makes any difference. I went through with a spreadsheet and weighed out the pros and cons of both and the list came out freaking equal.
front seats are better in the tsx
back seat is MUCH roomier on the accord
the tsx also has 60/40 split back seats (good) where the accord is a full bench (bad).
the engine/power/ride is really pretty comparable, at least on flat road. tsx is a little more peppier until you get on a hill, then you’re glad you have the accord.
the tsx has the manual shifting options that the accord doesn’t. though i’m more of a fan of the slapstick then the paddle shifters.
tsx has factory usb ipod control where I’d have to pay $175 for an adapter with the accord.
tsx has nice display of fuel economy and range that the accord does not.
exterior and interior styling of the tsx is better.
accord has rear seat ventillation.
accord uses regular gas instead of premium (tsx is only a couple mpg higher)
i like the wheels/rims of the accord better as well
tsx has seat position memory tied to the key fobs
To answer the one question– I am 29 years old, but married with my first baby girl to be born in 10 weeks. I’ve always owned sportier cars though: golf > civic si > acura rsx > mazda 6. My wife has the mom mobile (mazda cx7), but I’m sure I’ll be putting the kid in my car too. The back seat comparison is night and day between the two cars. I can barely fit (6 foot 2) in the back of the tsx. I’m comfortable in the back of the accord. While I wont be back there, you never know if the wife or someone will sit back there with the kid.
Guess I should have mentioned I am leasing too. So in 3 years I can get something different. In the Acura I could move up to a TL and probably get a pretty good deal. With the accord there is no where else to within the Honda family other than a SUV/crossover.
A: Ok, so they are different cars. It all depends on what you will be using it for.
Personally, I would go with the Accord. The only good part about the TSX is the sportiness, the mpgs, and the luxury. You can easily add plenty of luxury to the Accord. The TSX uses premium fuel, so in fuel costs its going to be higher. The TSX isn’t very sporty, I’m sorry. It’s a step up from the Accord, but the sportiness factor in the FWD TSX is very very LOW compared to its RWD competitors. The Accord is more practical with more room and less cost over the years, because of the high cost of premium fuel and maintenance for luxury vehicles. And, you know you child grow up and grow up fast. What will you do later if he isn’t comfortable in the back of the TSX? And, the Accord EX-L SHOULD have 60/40 split seats.
TSX pros:
sportier
more luxurious
better looking
Accord pros:
more practical
better for family
can last your child from birth to college.
better in hilly areas
good grip in bad weather
less cost of owning
holds its value better
From the two I would say get the Accord.
A few suggestions?
1.) Acura TL
Sure its pricier, but its worth it. It has all the space and practicality of the Accord, and all the luxury, sportiness, and looks/style/substance of the TSX. Again, only problem is price. I would definitely go with that. Plus it has AWD – better off the line performance, better on hills, ans better in weather.
2.) Hyundai Sonata Turbo.
Don’t laugh. The new Sonata has awarded multiple awards, has gotten great reviews, and has received plenty of praise. And very soon, Hyundai will release the turbo version. Basically, it has more power than the Accord V6 and better mpgs than the TSX. A turbocharged 4-cyl means V6 power, but 4-cyl thirst. Quality is amazing and the room in the back outdoes even the Accord.
Q: Why does the Acura ‘09 TSX req prem gas when ‘08 Accord w/same 4 cyl engine req reg. gas?
The Accord ‘08 with EX-L pkg has a 4 cylinder engine that produces 190 hp vs the new TSX ‘09 from Acura that has the same 4 cyl which is tweaked to produce 201 hp. Maybe that’s the difference in hp output with premium gas vs the Honda’s regular gas. Hmmmm
A: Not sure these are (exactly) the same engines. If they are, then yes, Honda would have deployed a slightly detuned version of what’s in the TSX. Actually, the European version of the TSX is called the Accord over there, and it makes 220 hp.
The TSX motor is of 11:1 compression, and the Accord’s 190 hp 4 cylinder version is 10.5:1. Apparently the Accord is close to experiencing detonation (ignition before the piston is past top dead center position), but not quite while using regular (87 octane). Being able to run the lower octane gas is a big selling point for family cars, and that’s what limits the output of the Accord motor compared to that of the TSX.
The V6 Accords Gen 6 (1998 – 2002) had a J30A1 motor 9.4:1 compression, and they all ran off of 87 octane. I also believe the Gen 7 (2003 – 2007) J30A2s ran off of the same gas, though they were over 10:1 compression (developed 40 & 44 more hp than the Gen 6 models).
The octane rating is achieved by fuel additives such as toluene that increase the flash point (temperature) of the fuel vapor…this refinery additive increases the octane rating. Compressing a fuel/air mixture heats it, so the higher the octane rating, the higher the allowable compression ratio before detonation occurs. Another way of looking at it is that higher octane fuels enable more aggressively tuned engines to achieve their full horsepower potential.
Modern engines have microprocessor engine management systems that operating in conjunction with ‘knock’ sensors, will retard the ignition timing should detonation occur (such as from using too low an octane of gas, or from driving under heavy loads on hot days, etc.). This means you can use lower octane gas in a car rated for 89 or 91/93, but you’ll lose some efficiency. Many vehicle user manuals recommend against this procedure for anything other than emergencies.
Q: What happens when you reduce horsepower in a car and increase torque? 2009 Acura TSX vs. 2010 Diesel Acura TSX?
The current 2009 TSX has 201hp and 174 lb/ft torque and it’ll run 0-60 in mid 6 sec. Rumor has it that Acura will be bringing over the diesel powered Euro-Accord in 2010, which will be an option for a new TSX. The specs on that car is 148hp and 255 lb/ft torque. With so much extra torque, does it mean it’ll hit 0-60 faster and have less of a top speed? Rumor also says that combined city/hwy epa will be 50+mpg. How accurate is that?
A: There is a direct connection between torque and horsepower. Horsepower = Torque x Engine Speed (RPM) / 5252. As a result, the gasoline TSX makes its 201 horsepower at approximately 6000 RPM. Diesels have much lower redlines than conventional gasoline motors, so they do not benefit from having a horsepower peak occurring at a higher engine speed than 5252 RPM. Most of the time, diesels make peak power at their redline (around 3500-4500 RPM). Assuming that the same transmission is used, 0-60 should take about the same time, but perhaps a little slower. The added torque of the diesel is offset by the necessity for more shifts. Again, assuming that the same transmission is used in both cars, the diesel will have a lower top speed. However, the extra torque of a diesel means that a higher gear ratio can be used. 50+mpg sounds a little optimistic to me, but I believe it will be over 40+mpg. Of course, both of these figures refer to highway mileage. Volkswagen used a similarly powered diesel and achieved over 40mpg highway. However, it is Honda (which makes Acuras), so you never know what technology they have to exceed 50mpg highway.
Q: Thinking of buying a used car?
This will be my first car, I have been working quite a lot. I saved close to 10k but having really tough time deciding which car to go for. I have several cars in my mind but I can’t decide which one will be best in a long term cost, maintenance, insurance, etc. My max budget is 20k-25k though 25k is pushing it. Here are the list of cars I have checked out/liked.
BMW 528i-2006 and up
Audi A4/A6-2006 and up
Acura TL, TSX- 2007 and 2008
Honda Accord-2008-2009
I really want the BMW 528i but was told the cost to maintenance, parts replacement and repair cost will be a lot? Please answer in details pro vs con to receive 10 points and of course thanks in advanced!
If i were to buy a used car from far, how do i go about taking it to my mechanic before buying it? how does that work? and I’m thinking taking my mechanic go with me?
Thanks all for the answers so far. I’m 23 years old..and i need the car for college, work and hang out–long drive sometimes most likely. I don’t want to push it to 25k. I’ll keep it 10~20k the max. Everyone has been telling me the same about BMW and Audi (Just love those car lol). Few of my friends said I should go with Acura or Honda Accord. In that price range which would be good and what year?
A: For a maximum $25 budget, you would be much better-off buying a new vehicle than subjecting yourself to the risks and repair costs of a new one, especially given that quality used vehicles have never been in greater demand and shorter supply and new vehicles have never been more highly-incentivized and dealers more willing to negotiate, especially as they strive to meet year-end sales objectives.
Your affinity for foreign brands notwithstanding, the very best vehicle you could buy in terms of value, quality, reliability, and performance would be either the 2010 Motor Trend Car of the Year Ford Fusion or the 2010 Ford Taurus. Both are exceptional vehicles that top their class in safety, reliability, and features. Plus, once you’ve driven a vehicle with Ford’s SYNC voice control system, you’ll never want to own another vehicle without it. Even-better values are available if you can find a dealer-driven “demo” vehicle that retains its new car warranty but is sold at a considerable discount.
Ford is building the best vehicles in its history and is besting even the most well-respected brands in reliability and owner satisfaction. In fact, the majority of customers who’ve bought otherwise are those whose biases didn’t allow themselves to even see the world-class vehicles Ford has to offer. Plus, being the only American manufacturer to fund its own renaissance, Ford has not only earned your business, but your consumer dollar has never carried more influence in determining which companies will survive into the future at a time when the American economy needs it most. And make no mistake, an American-brand vehicle built ANYWHERE does more to support the American economy than any one of the many foreign vehicles that happen to be assembled here.
Furthermore, 2009 was the year virtually every manufacturer (especially Ford) pulled-forward product to capitalize on the weak market. This means the 2009/2010 model year Ford vehicles are a full generation ahead of its counterparts who are now rushing to bring their own advanced vehicle technologies to market. Having traded-in a 2006 Mercedes for a 2009 Lincoln, I can tell you first-hand that Ford has come into its own and buying a Ford vehicle no longer requires making compromises in quality or prestige.
Best of luck. I hope this helps.
