Q: Honda Civic vs Ford Focus. People tell me a civic is better, how reliable is a ford focus?
Do Focuses have any reliability problems.
A: It’s a Ford. Of course it’ll have reliability problems. Go with the Civic. If you maintain it properly, it’ll last three times as long as the Focus if you do the same. Depending on the year, parts and repairs are cheaper for the Civic too. You can even fix it yourself. I tend to use this analogy: there are three wires to do one thing for a north american vehicle, but only one with a japanese. They keep things simple and uncomplicated. With european vehicles, they need twelve wires.
Q: Honda CIvic vs Dodge Intrepid vs Ford Focus?
Hi I am 16 years old and I need a car. I have the following cars to pick, but I don’t know which one.
1. Honda Civic 2000
2. 1999 Dodge Intrepid
3. 2000-2002 Ford Focus
I can only pay up to $3500
Tell me the pros and cons of those cars.
Or if you know any other cool car in that price range.
High school student
A: Civic and Focus will get good fuel economy.
They’re smaller and funner to drive than the Intrepid.
Both will be higher on insurance than the Intrepid.
That means that it will probably be roomier and more comfortable. Like I said, insurance will be lower too.
The Intrepid’s a larger car, so it will be less fun to drive.
The insurance benefits of the the Intrepid and the fuel economy benefits of the Civic and Focus balance out. And from a reliability standpoint they’re all good cars.
So it’s going to come down to a matter of personal preference. Which one do you want to drive? I would probably go with the Focus, but it’s up to you.
Q: New Ford Focus vs Certified Honda Civic?
Hey Everyone,
I am in college and I am looking to buy my first car. I have narrowed it down between two cars… the Ford Focus Sedan and the Honda Civic Sedan. If I get the Focus I can afford to get it brand new with everything I want in it for around 15000 plus a family discount plus they are taking an extra 2500 off. If I get a Honda Civic, I can get what I want (a Honda EX) but it will be a 2003 or a 2004 certified used Honda. I will still have a warranty so that is good but like I said it will not be new, which is not an issue for me.
I guess my question is for a college student, which car would be the better deal based on safety, gas millage, and overall realiability? Everyone tells me that Hondas last FOREVER and as long as you do the standard stuff they run forever. I know that my family has always bought Fords and I dont remember us having major problems. In the end I just want the least problem free car. Thanks everyone!
A: North American cars have come a long way and the Focus is an excellent choice, consider also you getting a full warranty.
Q: who would win this race? Ford Focus vs. Honda Civic?
2002 Ford Focus, 2.0 liter Zetec engine with 130 hp/130tq
2007 Honda Civic, 2.0 K20 engine with about 145hp
the interesting part is the Focus is manual and the Civic is automatic. I drive the Focus and assuming I shift at 5000 or 6000rpm who would win?
A: The Focus, yo. Hondas are overrated.
Q: 2008 Honda Civic vs. 2008 Ford Focus?
Which would you rather buy. I’m on a budget, so i like the fact that the focus is cheaper. However, is the civic worth the extra money? I figure the civic will probably last longer, but the new focus’ are pretty slick. Just wondering everyone’s opinions.
A: the old Ford Focus was better, this new version is less fun to drive.
the interior is poor, lots of cheap plastic. it looks bad feels cheap.
the Civic is a great car.
reliable and agile.
the fit and finish of the interior is outstanding, better than Toyota’s.
if you want a Ford Focus look for a 2007 $12,000
Q: Hond Civic Coupe vs. Ford Focus Coupe vs. Ford Fusion (all 2008)?
So I’ve been driving for 2 years now and I’m ready to buy my first car. I narrowed my choices to these 3 cars. What do you guys think.
BTW are these cars appropriate for guys to drive or are they chick cars.
A: Honda Civic Coupe is probably the best built car out of the group, and that is coming from a ford fan that has little love for Honda. Don’t get the Focus because it will be replaced in 2012ish. A new fusion is also in the works. On the other hand the Civic coupe might be considered a chic car by some.
Q: Stock race: 2009 honda civic vs. 2008 ford focus? which is faster?
A: OMG…it doesn’t matter the Ford will fall apart after day one.
Q: stock race: 2009 honda civic vs. 2008 ford focus?
which is faster?
A: Civic.
Q: 2007 ford focus 1.6 duratec hatchback vs 2007 1.4 honda civic si hatchback?

2007 ford focus 1.6 duratec hatchback vs 2007 1.4 honda civic si hatchback?
hello everyone. I am thinking of buying a car and i test drived honda civic and ford focus. I am still troubled about which one to buy. My priorities are reliability, fuel economy and comford.
The honda civic is more economic (1-2litres per 100 km) but does not have cruise control and the ford focus does not have vsa and a sixth gear.
also the ford focus is 1700 euros cheaper. Which one do you recoment?
A: Honda does not make a 1.4 Si. It’s 2.0. The Si will be much faster, much nicer and much more reliable. Although, the duratec motor from Ford is quite lively with a few bolt ons it will still never live up to the reputation of the k20 that Honda produces.
Q: 2001 Honda Civic/great mileage vs. 2002 Ford Focus/low miles?
At Carmax, I am deciding between a 2001 Honda Civic LX and a 2002 Ford Focus LX, both used. They are the same price.
Civic PROS: 30/38 mileage, fully loaded amenities
CONS: it has 93 k miles
I have read about and know of people who own Civics with many more ks of miles than this and their cars are still going strong. Also, Honda is know for their reliable cars with few service problems. Then again, this is a used car…
Focus PROS: only 38 k miles which is 55 k less for the same price.
CONS: 26/32 mileage, no extras included
CD changer, power locks, and cruise control isn’t necessary to have in a car, but it sure helps make life easier. I am favoring the Honda, but if I can guarantee a longer life expectancy in the Focus for the same price, I’ll stick with Ford.
So do I go with the car that is known for reliability when the miles and years go up, or do I choose the less fuel-efficient car that is 55 k miles younger?
Marc — I agree 110% with your advice, but money is tight and our limit is $10,000 max. Both cars are going for $9,998. As much as I’d like (and tried to convince my husband to) buy a new car, if you HAD to pick one used car or the other… which one would it be?
A: Honda Civic
Q: Why is everyone hating on american cars these days?
I was just wondering.
Alot of people say because of mpgs, focus vs civic = same mpgs. Is it the fact that they make real muscle cars?
I’ve heard of reliability too, but ANY car can make it to 200k with regular maintanence (well maybe not a chevette)
Idk, I don’t base liking a car off it’s origin or make cause it doesn’t really make sense to me that way.
A: american cars are made by lazy, sloppy workers who need to be disciplined to do a better job
Q: Honda Civic vs. Honda Fit?
This summer I’m going to buy a new car. My criteria are: good gas mileage, reliable, and because I’m a poor college student, affordable.
Initially, I was going to replace my Ford Focus with a new one. After doing some research, I found that overall it seemed that the Honda Civic was a better car. After looking at Civics, I stumbled across the Honda Fit.
I like the fact that the Honda Civic has more space. Although it has less gas mileage highway (33, to the Civic’s 36), it has more mpg city (27, to the Civic’s 25).
I don’t like the small gas tank on the Fit, but I think I could get over it.
My question is, which do you think is better and why?
Also, if anyone has any input on a car other than these two that fit my criteria listed above, by all means give me your suggestions!
A: I was looking at both the Fit and the Civic. I was able to rent a Civic for a long trip. After the trip, I chose the Fit…
Reasons:
I like the Hatchback and lay flat seats…
The Parking Brake Handle on Civic was in STUPID place. It dug into my leg… <---this drove me nuts...!!!
The Fit feels roomier…
The Fit Sport was less expensive than the Civic…
I’m averaging 34 mpg in city driving with my Fit with a 5 speed Manual…
If you do go with the Fit, I suggest the Sport with a the the 5 Speed manual…
Q: Ford Focus VS Chevy Cobalt?
Which one do you think is better the Ford Focus or the Chevy Cobalt? Also what about the Honda Civic?
A: Focus is the better car, and I would take it over a Civic also. Love the SYNC system, and it is priced right.
Q: Honda Type R (Old Style pre 2006) Vs Toyota Celica 190 Vs Ford Focus ST170?
I am looking to buy one of the above cars. Does anyone have any suggestion on which one to go for. I fancy the Type R personally as it appears best for reliability, performance and sheer fun factor, however I do like the styling and interior of the celica 190.
The Focus is by far the cheapest, has the best handling (so I am led to believe), is the easiest to locate and I would suspect the easiest and cheapest to repair.
The Focus and Celica wont touch the Type R on performance (0-60 = 7.9, 7.4, 6.4 respectively), however a car is much more than straight line speed. I have heard that you really have to thrash the nuts of the Civic to get it to do anything due to a lack of torque. I believe that this may also be the case for the Toyota as well.
I still cannot make my mind up and would appreciate any comments people may have regarding these three (especially if you have owned or driven one yourself).
Cheers
A: They are all good cars, however all have very different traits as you suggest.
I personally would go for the Civic Type R as it is pound for pound the best performer and also looks the sharpest. It will probably be the most reliable, however will cost more to repair than the other two (certainly than the Ford).
I have driven the Honda and Ford and the Honda definately wins. I have not had the pleasure of driving the Toyota yet so cannot comment.
You get more for your money luxury wise with the Toyota and Ford, however if you want luxury dont go for a sports car like the Honda.
Yes you do have to use the gears and give the Honda a good workout and that is what is fun about it. It is a real drivers car!!!
Q: Imports vs Domestics again… why all the misconception about it?
Imports vs Domestics again… why all the misconception about it?
In case most of yall have been living under a rock for the last decade or two ever since the 90’s america has stepped thier game up while imports are still riding the hype from years ago and if no of yall remember imports used to suck and all that imports are better around the corner stuff is B.S. when the last time you raced a honda. Now i will admit that imports do make some nice cars but most of thier performance and gas mileage stems from a Turbo not a natural engine. Now let america throws turbos on everything they woundlt be able to americas exhuast and some well know examples are
Nissan GTR vs Corvette Z06 or Zr1…The corvette spanks that awd car all day in a straight line or a corner
Honda Civic SI vs Mustang GT…The mustang rapes that honda everytime.
Chevy Silver vs Toyota Tundra…The one thing they cant do is make a better truck
Pretty much any import gets beat by a Domestic anyday of the week while still looking better
Domestics:Mustang,Focus,Taurus,F150,25… and many more
Imports:Evo,Raider(Dodge made),civic,accord,s2000,eclispe,tundra,… and some others
Dont get me wrong I lived in japan and i loved it but when it comes down to it you gotta admit the Domestics are better and safer look up japanese car crashes,
Dont get me wrong i like imports and a bunch of them look and preform good but stock for stock domestics own them all day and imports only get better gas becuase they have less power and japan imports all of thier fuel so they have to(Lived in japan and been to thier fuel stations)plus thier gas is more expensive
Slacker you got a point the 350z is more competition and the 370z cost 10k more so it oughta win but it cant beat the camaro ss or a GT with 10k in parts and european cars are all overrated they all Live on turbos and premimum gas
And a GT destroys the s2000 in a straight line or around the corners i did it last week
A: Well point blank to anything to do with comparison to a 4 cylinder to a v-8…Rule one is no replacement for displacement…Simple fact If my engine is bigger it can intake more fuel and air there for I can get more h.p…..why do you think Funny Cars run 500+ C.I. motors and not twin turbo 4 bangers…America needs to start focusing on I-6’s again does anybody remember the Ford series Straight 6’s the 300 is still an unbeatable engine stock 190 hp and 330 ft lbs of tq and a decent 18 mpg untuned..But america is still winning the race for diesel. Best stock motor out there in my opinion is the 03-04 cobra motors, capable of handling 800hp (crank) on the stock forged internals
